18th June 2012
The number of clubs supporting the Lotus Festival has just increased again with five more confirming their attendance at the Lotus Festival at Brands Hatch this August, representing the full range of the Norfolk manufacturer’s output over the last 60 years. Many of their members’ cars will be on display during the weekend.
The Lotus Forums gathers together owners of Esprits, 2-Elevens and Evoras, plus both Elise and classic Lotus owners. An eclectic display is expected from them. Meanwhile the North Kent Lotus Group is sure to have a strong presence at their local circuit.
Celebrating its 30th birthday in 2012 will be the Excel, and Lotus Excel.net will have a party planned with lots of cars on show.
Meanwhile, fast approaching its 50th anniversary, the Lotus Cortina will be represented by the Lotus Cortina Register. The saloon racing favourite, made famous by Jim Clark, Sir John Whitmore and even Great Train Robber Roy James, will make for a popular display around the perimeter of the Brands Hatch circuit.
Fans of older cars will be in for a treat thanks to the Historic Lotus Register, which attended the very first festival back in 2007. Some of the earliest cars to come from the fertile imagination of Colin Chapman will provide plenty of fascination to visitors in between the wealth of on-track action.
