2013 is a year of celebration for many automotive manufacturers, and one of Britain’s most well-known sportscar marques, Lotus, is no exception. The brand’s heritage includes the iconic Lotus-Cortina, which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary, and the model will be one of the stars of the forthcoming Lotus Festival together with Motul!
The Festival takes place at the Brands Hatch Circuit in Kent, England on 24/25th August and will be supported by Motul, world’s leading specialist in high performance competition lubricants. The two brands share many common values covering passion and performance, as well as a long history in making a difference in their individual areas of expertise.
Along with demonstrations and displays of cars from both road and track, the Lotus Festival will be complemented by superb action from the Elise Trophy and the Lotus Cups (UK & Europe). Motul has been the official lubricant partner of Elise Trophy and Lotus Cup UK since 2008, and also added partnerships with the FIA Lotus Cup Europe in 2009 and the Lotus Cup USA in 2011. While in Asia, the RevSpec Lotus carries Motul’s colours in the Lotus Cup Thailand. Last but not least, Motul has also been a partner of the Classic Team Lotus located at Hethel (UK), opposite the Lotus Cars’ factory – reflecting that over the years Motul has become well and truly integrated with the international Lotus community.
As part of the partnership agreement, Motul will offer a free oil change to all competitors entered in the Lotus Elise Trophy, the Lotus Cup UK and the Lotus Cup Europe. The engine oil which will be utilized will be the 300V Competition 15W50, the lubricant benefitting from technology and offering a 
maximal shear resistance of the oil film, even at extremely high temperatures.
Also recommended by Motul is the GEAR 300 75W-90 lubricant for gearboxes not fitted with limited slip differential (LSD) as this “extreme pressure” ester-based 100% synthetic lubricant has been specially developed for the transmissions of racing and competition vehicles, operating under heavy load and high rotation speed. For gearboxes fitted with LSD, the recommendation is for use of GEAR COMPETITION 75W-140 or GEAR 300 LS 75W-90 lubricants as they are both composed of Esters and special additives allowing a good resistance and perfect operation of the friction plates inside the LSD.
