Making a welcome appearance at the Festival will be what is probably the most famous Lotus of them all, Type 25 R4, with which Jim Clark won no less than seven Grand Prix’ on the way to his first World Championship title in 1963. This car really established Lotus as a serious contender on the Grand Prix scene, marking out Colin Chapman as a truly innovative designer.
Meticulously restored by Classic Team Lotus after being found in a sorry state in Australia by its current owner, the Climax-engined 25 is still a regular competitor 50 years on. In fact from Brands Hatch it will be travelling to Holland for an historic event at Zandvoort, where the model originally debuted at the 1962 Dutch Grand Prix.
The Lotus 25 can be viewed all weekend in the Classic Team Lotus marquee which will be in the trade area just off Colin Chapman way.
