The Lotus Festival will be back in 2014 and will be the best event yet!
The event has been pencilled in for 16/17 August 2014 and will celebrate a major landmark: 50 years since the first Grand Prix to be held at Brands Hatch. The race was won by Jim Clark for Team Lotus and in the support Saloon race Sir John Whitmore was joined by Jack Sears and Jackie Stewart on the podium, heading a top six lockout for the Lotus Cortina! Clark was also the British Saloon Car Champion that year – the forerunner to the BTCC.
It’s also 25 years since Lotus F1 driver and stalwart Martin Donnelly won the Intenational Formula 3000 race at Brands Hatch for the second time, leading to his Grand Prix debut later that year and this occasion will also be celebrated, as will 40 years of the Type 75 Elite and Éclat.
Classic Team Lotus will be back with great F1 cars from the racing team’s past, whilst also on track there will be more historic race content. The Lotus Bits rally stage, club and trade stands will be bigger and better than ever too.
Make a note of 16/17 August 2014 in your diaries – you won’t want to miss it!
